Day 13

The Gospel & Acts

The Book of Acts is the continuation of the spread of the gospel from Jerusalem to the ends of the earth. The Greek word for preaching the gospel (euangelizo) appears in Acts more than any other book of the Bible. That gospel is no trivial thing but remarkable as seen in one of my preferred passages in Acts. The gospel changing power is displayed in the story of the Damascus road.

Acts 9:3-6, "And as he (Saul) journeyed, he came near Damascus: and suddenly there shined round about him a light from heaven: and he fell to the earth, and heard a voice saying unto him, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks. And he trembling and astonished said, Lord, what wilt thou have me to do?"

The gospel can take a man who, according to Acts 9:1, "was yet breathing out threats and slaughter against the disciples of the Lord," and utterly transform him.  Saul was a killer of men who proclaimed the gospel, and became Paul, a man willing to be killed for the sake of proclaiming gospel. I don't know what challenges you are wrought with in 2025, but there is nothing that the power of the gospel in your life can't transform. Be encouraged as you continue in the 21 days of prayer and fasting that God is at work chiseling away and believe that the power that rests in your spirit has the power to change Saul, the world, and you!
