Day 16
Thanksgiving
Psalm 116
What are you thankful for? Kids, grandkids, a house, a job, money? I’m thankful for most of these things but let's remember, these things are from God. He has blessed us with these things.
What am I thankful for? First and most importantly, I am thankful for forgiveness. I am thankful that
God allowed Jesus Christ to take care of my mistakes. I mess up too often, but I am so thankful for the Son and all he has set free, not just for me but my family. I know there is an option to walk out of this earth alive and I thank God for that.
I’m also thankful for faith. His mercy is new every morning (Lamentations 3:22-23). The God in our Bible is the same God in our lives. He didn’t change; He is here for you and me, He loves you, and that is a powerful love! I can remember when my wife was pregnant with our first child and God working on our faith the whole time. Weeks before her due date, we were in the ER and the doctor told her she had preeclampsia and had to deliver. Her blood pressure was way too high. I remember asking the doctor what I could do, and she said nothing but wait. Well, I wasn’t just going to wait. I knew there was more I could do that day; I decided prayer was the only way. I loved the Lord, for he heard my voice; he heard my cry for mercy (Psalm 116:1). That prayer delivered a beautiful baby girl, and that challenge and prayer offered my bride and I a chance at building faith in the Lord!!
I’m thankful for my family, and not just the ones who live under my roof. My family also includes all of you in this church family. You all have shown what a truly Biblical church is all about, and you guys are a blessing to us! Call on the Lord, He is gracious and righteous, our God is full of compassion!
So here is the big question: what shall we return to the Lord for his goodness? The Bible says, “I will lift
up the cup of salvation and call on the name of the Lord. I will fulfill the vows to the Lord in the
presence of all his people.” (Psalm 116: 14 -15)
Let’s lift our cups high!!
