Day 2

Prayer

Psalm 5

“YAHWEH” – The most sacred name for God in Bible times was only spoken aloud by the priests
in the Jerusalem temple. After the destruction of the temple in AD 70, it was not spoken aloud
at all. The name was translated to Adonay (or Adonai). As I was thinking about this, it became
so special to me that God allows me to come before His throne and call upon His holy name in a
personal way for whatever is on my heart. And, He wants me to do that!

Matthew 7:7-8 says, “Ask and it shall be given to you; seek and you will find, knock and it will be
opened unto you”. Not MAY be opened but WILL be opened.

I tend to pray more when I pray with a group. I guess it is the accountability that makes the
difference for me. We have a group of about 30 men and women that do a prayer zoom call
every morning from 6:30-7:10. This time has become so very special to me. I want to share
with you basically what we do. There is no agenda. (Sometimes, though, our leader will
mention an immediate need for us to pray over.)

Here is the basic process:
1. A reading of praise scriptures.
2. A time of confession.
3. Someone reads the scriptures in Ephesians of putting on the armor of God.
4. Then we may pray over a certain concern.

You can read a scripture as your prayer or read and then pray. Two minutes is the limit so
others will have time to participate. No one is pressured into praying.

Maybe you cannot meet with a group. Or maybe you would rather pray by yourself. Or maybe
you could find a small group to pray with. Neither is right or wrong. Just pray as the LORD
leads and enjoy communication with your heavenly Father. Take time also to be still and listen
to what He is trying to tell you. Ephesians 3:20 says, “Now to Him who is able to do exceeding
abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us.”
