Pastor Danny Lovett's weekly Blog - 01/10/2019
During the month of January, we're looking at "How to Have a Healthy Church". In the Old Testament, during the time of the Babylonian exile, we find that the people of God and the city of Jerusalem were in terrible condition. The temple was a mess and the wall around the city was falling down. The Jews desperately needed someone who had a vision to restore Jerusalem to her former glory. They needed someone whose heart had been captured by God and was set on fire by God’s Spirit. God had such a man! His name was Nehemiah. God was preparing to use him to restore the city of God's people. We might not have ever suspected that the next great leader in Israel was currently serving as the cup bearer to the Babylonian king Artaxeres.
While you and I may be a thousands of years removed from the time of Nehemiah, even so, we live in a nation that desperately needs people of vision. We can become those people! We can become the people God uses for His glory in these days to make a difference for His name's sake! Remember Proverbs 29:18 says, "where there no vision, the people perish, but he that keeps the law, happy is he.” This Sunday we will look at three simple facts presented in Nehemiah chapter one that teach us how to become people of vision. Start the New Year well by being in Bible Study at 8:45 and Worship at 10:00.
For our Fellowship meal, we'll have a Mexican Salad Bar with soft or crunchy tortillas, seasoned chicken, rice and beans, and all the trimmings. Please participate in our fellowship by sitting with a visitor or someone you don't yet know and make a new friend. You can also bring your favorite dish to share. Thank you so much for your part in setting up and tearing down tables and chairs, washing dishes and taking out the trash. Many hands make light work.
Jesus is Awesome!
Love,
