Pastor Danny Lovett's Weekly Blog - 12/27/2018
The story is told of a young mother putting away the nativity set after Christmas, when she noticed that Baby Jesus was missing. When she asked her four-year-old son if he knew where Jesus was, he replied, “Yes, but He doesn’t want me to tell anybody.” “Why not?” she asked. “Because He doesn’t want to be put away with the decorations and forgotten,” he said. Wisdom from the lips of a child!
When you know why Jesus came you will celebrate Christmas every day. Jesus said, ”The Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve” (Matthew 20:21). Christmas is about serving not striving! Also the “Son of Man came to seek and to save that which was lost” (Luke 4:43). Imagine meeting someone you worked with, or lived with, saying to you in eternity, “Why did you never tell me about Jesus?” When we keep Jesus in mind consistently we will live like He did and we'll be celebrating Christmas every day. God came down to be with us, in us, and to live through us! So this next year, ”As we have opportunity, let us serve and do good unto everyone especially to those in the family of faith”(Galatians 6:10). As you put away the decorations, don't put Jesus away, but keep Him front and center in your heart and actions every day. Happy New Year!
For our Fellowship meal, we'll be sharing chicken casserole with seasoned rice and green beans. Please participate in our fellowship by sitting with a visitor or someone you don't yet know and make a new friend. You can also bring your favorite dish to share. Thank you so much for your part in setting up and tearing down tables and chairs, washing dishes and taking out the trash. Many hands make light work.
Jesus is Awesome!
