Day 19
The Gospel & James
Have you surrendered ALL to the Lord? Those words from the pulpit cut like a knife through my bitter heart. I started thinking "Why am I so tired if I have surrendered it ALL to him? Why am I hesitant to take things to the cross?" The Holy Spirit reminded me of the book of James saying count it ALL joy when you go through trials. How do I do that? It's not possible, I thought. I can't control what happens to me or my loved ones. How can I move forward? James 4:7 says, "Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Come near to God and He will come near to you."
The altar is a sacred place to humble ourselves, fall on our knees and submit - to surrender one's will, desires, and authority to God. It is what Jesus did on the cross. "Not my will but Yours." My heart desires a closeness to God but first I must surrender. Are you struggling today to hold it all together? The altar is open!
