Week 1: What We're Learning!

Hey parents! Take a look at what we're learning this weekend in our NEW series!
Announcements:
- Child Dedication is May 10th. Register on the church app if you would like your child to be dedicated!
- May 31st will be a FAMILY Sunday for K-5th grade! (Sunday school will still be held).
The Early Church (Acts 4:32–37; 5:1–1)
Brite Idea: God’s way is best!
Monthly Big Question (Preschool only): Is God in control of everything? Yes!
The early church was generous, and the people shared their possessions with those in need. Barnabas sold a field and gave the money away. Ananias and Sapphira also owned a field, but when they sold it, they kept a portion of the money for themselves. They lied about the amount of the proceeds. When Ananias was confronted with the lie, he immediately died. His wife lied too, and she also fell down dead. The early church learned God’s way is best!
When we choose to do things our way instead of God’s way, that is sin. And sin always has consequences. In fact, Romans 6:23 teaches us that the ultimate consequence of sin is death—we deserve to die and be separated from God forever. But that is why Jesus came. God loves us too much to leave us in our sin. When Jesus died on the cross, He took our punishment. When we trust in Him, we can be forgiven. Then the Holy Spirit will live in us and help us to learn to live God’s way.
Monthly Memory Verse: Yours, O Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty, for all that is in the heavens and in the earth is Yours. (1 Chronicles 29:11a)
