Pastor Danny Lovett's Weekly Blog - 01/24/2019

I’m not sure why, but preachers always seem to feel the need to come up with gimmicks or stories to use right before the offering, to motivate people to give. I’ve never felt the need to concoct anything like that in our church.  The Word of God gives us so many amazing reasons for giving to Him, that we shouldn’t need any gimmicks to motivate people to give. In 2 Corinthians 8:9 we find five motives which, when recognized, result in generous giving to God and His work. "For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, so that you through his poverty might become rich" (2 Corinthians 8:9).  These principles lead to financial blessings for the Church and the giver.  Let's open God's word together!

For our fellowship meal, we'll have a creamy Fettuccine Alfredo with Grilled Chicken accompanied by green beans, corn, a green salad and buttery garlic bread.  Ask someone to share their story with you and especially the good part about how they came to Jesus!   "Then those who feared the Lord talked with each other, and the Lord listened and heard. A scroll of remembrance was written in his presence concerning those who feared the Lord and honored his name" (Malachi 3:16).  You are always invited to bring your favorite dish to share.  Thank you so much for your part in setting up and tearing down tables and chairs, washing dishes and taking out the trash.  Many hands make light work.
Jesus is Awesome!

Love,

Pastor Danny & Susan
