CCW Worship Weekly Update
Sep 24, 2026
"It's easy to ask God to change our circumstances. It's harder to ask God to change us." David displayed a dangerous prayer in Psalms 139:23-24. He wrote 'Search me, O God, and know my heart; Try me and know my anxieties; And see if there is any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.' It's dangerous because in his worship, he was asking God to reveal what we as men and women desire to hide and ignore: pride, insecurity, secret motives, hidden sin, a heart that has wondered away. Before we can ask God to use us or fellowship with us, we should be willing to ask Him to search us. "God, show us what is in our hearts that doesn't look like you, cleanse me from that and then lead me in your way." Jeremiah writes in his book that the heart is deceitful in all things and desperately wicked and he asks 'Who can know it?'. The answer is Christ but He doesn't search our hearts with a desire to shame us. He searches with a desire to transform us, and when we allow Him to do so, that becomes the starting place for GENUINE WORSHIP.
