Not every person who calls themselves a friend has your best interests at heart. In the story of Judas, we look at how false friendship can hide sin behind a smile. Judas walked with Jesus, talked with Jesus, and looked like all of the other disciples, but underneath it all, greed and hypocrisy were growing. False friends can be like a smoke alarm with dead batteries. They may look like they are there to protect you, but when danger comes, they don’t warn you or even guide you. Judas appeared close to Jesus, yet when the moment came, he betrayed Him with a kiss for a few pieces of silver. This week, we'll see the reminder to be careful about who we allow to influence us. Although love and friendship should be the goal, wisdom and discernment should hold the reins. True friends help us move toward Christ, not away from Him.
